There are also options for the following:Offensive Player Utility (OP) (This is a spot for ANY offensive player)
Running Back/Wide Receiver (RB/WR)
Wide Receiver/Tight End (WR/TE)
The big difference between 10 and 12 team leagues for me comes down to that 2/3 WR and certainly the bench spots are filled with lesser known names and it is more challenging to find that diamond in the rough. On the flip side with a 10 team league, the starting rosters are all stars so it’s a bit easier to run the team as the available player pool still has some well known names.
My recommended changes would be to drop the mandatory RB down to 1. Finding 2 quality RBs to start each week will be extremely tough. Then either add a second starting Flex spot or maybe add an Offensive Player Utility (OP) spot which would open it up to starting a second QB potentially as well. It would seem weird but might be fun.
I would also recommend reducing the max RB on a roster down to 4 so nobody hoards RBs just for kicks.
I don’t think adding Running Back/Wide Receiver (RB/WR) or Wide Receiver/Tight End (WR/TE) spots adds much. I would rather just use the overall Flex spot instead.
Lastly there is the option for individual defensive players. These would be the options for those spots.
Defensive Tackle (DT)
Defensive End (DE)
Linebacker (LB)
Defensive Line (DL)
Cornerback (CB)
Safety (S)
Defensive Back (DB)
Defensive Player Utility (DP)
Personally I just think it would make the draft take forever and who the heck knows what safety will end up having the big game from week to week (outside of Winfield who will have 2FF and 2INT every week!).
Feel free to discuss. If we get some sort of consensus, great. If we need to vote on a few options, cool. If all else fails, then Ralph just does whatever the hell he wants just like Goodell.
I was thinking to help expand the player pool to our limited pool of players since we are running a 16 man 12 team league, we could (1) utilize 2 starting QBs instead of 1 starting QB and/or (2) utilize a QB in the flex position if we wanted to.
Otherwise, if we leave it as is offensively speaking, the last team drafting is going to have a severe disadvantage. Even in a 10 man league, the last team picking really blows hard.
That’s interesting Al. I’ve never been in a 2 QB starter league. I’d say leave it as team D only. Am I right in assuming the flex can be a RB, WR, or TE?
Correct Redrum. A flex position is one of those three. The Offensive Player Utility (OP) adds the option to use a QB in that position as well. I think technically you could use a K as well, but that would be not smart.
